Both DHCP clients and servers can generate DNS updates. To turn off DNS updates on Windows 2000/XP/2003 configured with DHCP clients (refer to Figure 1): To turn off DNS updates on Window Server 2000 running DHCP Server (refer to Figure 2 below): Microsoft Windows Server 2003 automatically sends DNS updates to each of its DHCP clients.Dyn DNS continues to show the WAN 2 IP for at least several hours, maybe indefinitely.
Unfortunately, as they are all third-party products, you’ll need to contact the manufacturer for support with the device. If your host was blocked for abuse, it probably wasn’t something that you did intentionally.
An update client is a computer application or a feature in your router that keeps your hostname’s IP address up-to-date.
The update client periodically checks your network’s IP address; if it sees that your IP address has changed, it sends (updates) the new IP address to your hostname in your Dyn account.
This is the only issue I’ve had with the Balance One. It is disappointing that the Dynamic DNS update doesn’t work reliably when everything else works so well and much cheaper routers are able to get Dynamic DNS right.
